Street Preacher

A sermon heard on the subway delivered by a "touched" preacher who quite frankly made more sense than some of the ones I've heard lately...

"The city wants your body. It can kill the body but not the spirit. You got any spirit on you sister?"

"Sister, don't be listening to the devil, stand up here at the altar and sing a song. Singing makes your soul happy and stop its frowning. Might as well smile now as you sing sister. Smiles let people know you have a soul. Frowns just scare the people off. (I almost questioned this point as the whole car was frowning at him and he sure wasn't scaring off that easy)"

"Folks, you all need to come to the Lord before we get to the airport. No need flying home without the Lord."

"I think we really need a song. You over there, come up here and sing for us. Lead us in a song about the Lord riding MARTA."

"Careful sister, no need in selling yourself for some deviled joy."

As we left the subway I heard him say to the young teenaged "sister" who was intently plugged into her Ipod, "Carelful now. Don't let the airport fall on you."

Good advice. I have a feeling any airport that falls on you would be a bit painful.
